Carmen Dragon,
daughter and namesake of the late, renowned conductor and composer, is the force behind Celestial Music, a unique "celestial" blend of musical instruments. An accomplished pianist, her real love is the harp.

After her studies at the University of Southern California, Ms. Dragon spent 15 years with the Glendale Symphony as first Harpist. Her extensive career continued in the orchestral arena, and she has often been honored as a featured soloist.
Known for her artistry on the Grand Harp, Carmen Dragon is a dynamic musician who has performed with a variety of orchestras throughout the United States.

carmen 1 In addition to her extensive classical background in orchestral and chamber music, Carmen has also recorded popular music with Disney studios and entertainers including Neil Sedaka and Mellisa Manchester. Part of a larger musical family, she has performed under the direction of her father Carmen, and on her brother Daryl's show: The award-winning television series "The Captain and Tennille."

Despite all of her success with large orchestras, Carmen soon found her true love in small, "celestial" ensembles. The perfect blend of flute, cello, voice, guitar, and harp, is the pursuit and realization of Carmen's dream to bring us joy, free spirit, and history.

Healing CD Music Minus Meds - NEW RELEASE
Music Minus Meds was inspired by Carmen E. Dragon, who is an international harpist and healer. In her CD, Healing Harp Meditations, she will take you on a journey inside your body. This voyage begins with an expedition that starts with your inner child, taking you back to a place inside yourself that has been buried beneath layers of hurt and pain that needs to come to the surface in order to heal. Carmens voice is soothing and soulful to the listener. Background sounds from nature help make the journey serene and peaceful.

Carmen is a two-time cancer survivor. The second time she was told by the medical profession that she was terminal and only had months to live. By using her own "music medicine", she has been able to continue living a truly rewarding life. Her purpose is to impart healing to others and share her story through narrations, which use the harp for healing.

"Now visualize a cloud in the sky. It is moving slowly and changing every second. The colors change from white to gray to pale blue. You feel calm and soothed as you stay right with this cloud. It is taking you along a journey to a very special and cerebral place. You have no worries or fears. You are just drifting, and you feel very safe." (Inner Peace: Carmen E Dragon).

Romantic CD Romantic Harp - NEW RELEASE
Carmen began the study of music at 4 years of age on the piano. She had a burning desire to play the harp and was fascinated by the sound and beauty of the instrument at a very early age when attending the concerts of the late famous conductor, composer, Carmen Dragon, her illustrious father, who was Musical Director of the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra. She continued her musical studies on piano winning numerous awards in her teens. By age 16 her parents bought her a harp, and she began studying privately with the world renowned harp teacher, Susan McDonald. Miss McDonald took a great interest in Carmen and brought her to the University of Southern California as her first harp student, which was the beginning of the U.s.c. Harp Department. Carmen studied with Miss McDonald for 3 years at U.s.c. and then embarked on her musical career.

Her father hired her as second harpist in his orchestra, The Glendale Symphony, where she worked her way up to first harpist and worked with the orchestra for 15 years. Her extensive career continued with more orchestral playing including The Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura, El Conejo, Fresno, Brentwood, and Anchorage Symphonies. She has soloed with the Ventura, Santa Maria, Redlands and Topanga Symphonies. Chamber music has become a preference and recent classical Chamber music repertoire with flute, cello, voice and violin have been performed annually at the Triforium, of the Cultural Affairs Dept. Performing Arts division. Carmen also teaches, and was on the faculty at u.c. Santa Barbara for 2 years.

Carmen has recorded with Nelson Riddle, Barry Manilow, and Disney Studios and worked on shows in Las Vegas with artists such as Wayne Newton, Tony Orlando, Anthony Newly, Neil Sedaka, Melissa Manchester, and Barry Manilow. Carmen's fine musical background is apparent in her Night Club performances since she is equally at home playing pop tunes or well known classical selections. She has appeared in several fine Night Clubs and Dinner Houses including the Biltmore Hotel, Hyatt House, Bel-Air Hotel, Riviera Country Club and many others.

is intended to soothe and relax the listener and was inspired by the beautiful and enchanting island of Kauai. Harp 2K, or "Harp to Kauai," is an expression of the natural beauty that is often overlooked by a society in which technology and progress tend to overshadow much of what we have traditionally considered beautiful. As a classically trained harpist, Ms. Dragon attempts in this album to revive the past within a modern context through the use of real wind and stringed instruments. "I hope that my humble contribution will impart to you a sense of the serenity, beauty, and passion of Kauai and her local people."

carmen5 Classical Moods
Classical Moods is a collection of pieces intended to soothe and relax the listener. There are works by the greatest composers from the 16th to the 20th centuries - music by the masters of their time performed on one of music's earliest instruments - the harp. From its earliest reference as an instrument with 11 strings in ancient Egyptian cave drawings dating back to 11 BC, to the modern version with 47 strings and 7 pedals, the harp has always had an ethereal quality which is particularly suited to the music chosen for this project. Emotions that inspired the writing of these pieces is beautifully conveyed in Carmen's masterful interpretations. Included in this collection is the first known recording of a solo concert grand harp playing Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Also included is a contemporary composition - Bond of the Wave. Written by Ms. Dragon in 1986 on the island of Kauai. This piece was inspired by the beauty and majesty of the island.
