For nearly 30 years, Sheldon Cohen has been an integral part of America's music community. He was the Assistant Musical Director for the Johnny Carson Show until Johnny's retirement in 1992. Some of Shelly's other accomplishments include serving as Music Coordinator for the prestigious Emmy Awards and the Today Show's Reflections of Irving Berlin and Richard Rodgers. He has written and produced two Christmas television specials, "Noel" and "Christmas with Friends." In addition to his television work, Shelly has been the guest conductor for the Los Angeles "Pops", the Virginia "Pops", and the Pasadena "Pops" Orchestras.

On a more personal note, Shelly conducted the St. Mel Church Adult Choir for nearly 20 years. During his time at St. Mel's, the choir became well known in the community for excellence in liturgical music as well as outstanding performances in their biannual concerts in the church.

Since branching out with the New Horizon Singers, Shelly's "faithful followers" have continued to perform many concerts each year. During the past few years, the New Horizon Singers have been invited to perform concerts at "Concert in the Park" at Warner Center, the opening of the Winter Concert Season at the Smothers Theater on the Pepperdine University Campus and several performances at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Center.

Those who know Shelly will agree that he loves the world and all of her creatures and has a special gift that encourages people to come together as one.

The Joy of Chanukah,
The festival of Chanukah is a celebration that reminds the Jewish People of the victory of the Maccabees over the oppressive rules of that time in history.

It was then that the altar in the temple was rededicated with the lighting of the menorah. The miracle, that a tiny bit of oil could burn for eight days, has become the focal point of this Jewish holiday. It is customary today, for members of each household to light their own candles in remembrance one more candle to the menorah until the eight days have been completed.

A spirit of exaltation is evident through the music and the people's enjoyment of this event. The sounds of musical instruments and voices all blend together in our collection of Chanukah songs which will surely allow you to revel in this most meaningful celebration.

So, join with us as the Pacific "Pops" Orchestra and the New Horizon Singers bring to you the ever-joyful music of Chanukah.

Let Freedom Sing is a collection of some of the most moving American Songs and time honored words. They reflect the fundamental foundations of our country, namely, the freedom of speech and religion. The readings are performed by Mr. Ed McMahon with the New Horizon Singers and Pacific "Pops".
